WESTERN INSTITUTE FOR SOCIAL RESEARCH

To honor Alegría’s support for the ideals of The Western Institute for Social Research (WISR) since its inception, fifty percent of the profits of this film will go to WISR. www.wisr.edu

A Multiethnic Academic Institution for people concerned with Community Service, Social Change and Educational Innovation, The Western Institute For Social Research (WISR) offers Individualized Degree Programs For Working Adults: B.A. and M.A. programs in Psychology, Social Sciences, and Human Services and Community Development. The M.A. Program in Psychology can be designed to meet the State’s academic requirements for the Marriage and Family Therapy License.

WISR offers a M.A. in Education and an individualized and interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Higher Education and Social Change. The Ph.D. program is especially for college professors; adult and community educators; community service professionals and activists; self-employed professional consultants; counselors interested in teaching, community involvement, or writing for professional or lay audiences. Some WISR students live outside the Bay Area — Ukiah, Sacramento, or Santa Cruz, for example. Established in 1975, WISR is located in Berkeley. Students may begin any month of the year, and tuition is $500 a month.
